Acknowledgement of country

We walk together in respect, truth and solidarity.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands, waters and skies across the Cairns region and the Atherton Tablelands where we live and work. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and honour emerging leaders.

We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded and we honour the enduring strength, resilience and leadership of First Nations communities.

As a feminist domestic and family violence service, we acknowledge that violence against women and gender diverse people is deeply connected to the ongoing impacts of colonisation, racism, dispossession and systemic inequality. First Nations women experience violence at disproportionately high rates, shaped by intergenerational trauma and the legacy of state violence.

We are committed to working in culturally safe, anti-racist and respectful ways, guided by lived experience, self-determination, and solidarity with First Nations women, families and communities. We believe that safety, justice and liberation must be collective.

One conversation changed everything

“I didn’t think anyone would understand. But they did.

We listen without judgement, guided by a feminist and human rights approach that believes every woman deserves safety, dignity and the chance to live free from violence.
